Talk to me about the story of the band!
We are a band from Turin that has been around since 2004… Like many others we started when we where young age to play for passion, fun and especially the desire to stay together. Over the years things have become increasingly serious and, after dozens dozens of concerts, an EP, a first full length and a live album of last year, we finally made it to publication of our second album, almost 5 years away from our previous work in the studio.

What did you do in the last six months?
Less than a year ago we were ready to enter the studio to begin recording the album when… We decided to start over… We decided to put all the tracks that were supposed to be part of “The Great Inertia” and rewrite it completely: we wanted it to be current and fresh for everybody, and especially for us.

What have you got in your wallet now?
20 euro. But to satisfy the daily needs I would have need of 100 euros!

Why have you chosen this name for your band?
The name takes its cue from a situation that created often in the first location where we played. a sort of well-equipped Tavern home of our first drummer. It was a recreational place and at the same time a musical workshop which each day many musicians gravitated. the first thing that you felt opening the door of the tavern was a blanket of smoke …

Tell us about the new album “The great inertia”. Are you fully satisfied with it?
This second album in some respects had a slimmer than its predecessor… In the sense that we started working on it “really” only to January. We had more than 15 complete songs, some of which we already accompanied live in the line-up for a few months, but we all had the desire to write something completely new. So we put to work and in a little over 6 months we entered the studio for the recordings and… Do not deny that there has been a great job behind. We chose the new material between some 40 at least between auditions, demos, sketches and, sometimes, environmental sound recordings highly unlikely.

Which is the highest point of the LP?
For us are all potential singles. Hopefully promotional level can extract the most possible. Inevitably in this direction is a matter of budget.

…And the low point?
Probably the timing there helped. I don’t think there are any. Perhaps the two entries could speak in a more ‘ balanced on all tracks. Hollywood Thriller is a perfect example of how the two items work well.

How would you define your sound?
Mmm… Post-grunge/crossover/alternative rock! Ahahaha! We play rock music, we love rock and metal, I believe that our music can be placed exactly halfway between the two.

Alternative-rock. Describe for me this word!
I don’t know what i can say… We just play rock music, everything that i can say about the meaning of the term “alternative” would sound stupid… What is alternative to me would sound alternative to you?!

Which bands have influenced your style?
Difficult to tell just a couple of names… Deftones, Stone Temple Pilots, Chevelle, Papa Roach, Mudvayne, 36 Crazyfists and many more…

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
I would choose an unperfect happiness than a perfect one… So boring!

Tell me some of the bands you admire.
There are too many… I just told you Deftones, Chevelle and some other like Blindside, Alexisonfire, Silverchair, In Flames, Mudvayne, Stone Sour, Thursday and many many more.

What song is in your head right now?
In the last couple of days I listened so much the album from Spencer Chamberlain, new band called Sleepwave. I like so much his voice and approach, it sounds like a good project.

Name 3 words that describe your band.
Intensity, respect, animosity.

What is the most embarrassing situation you’ve ever been with Undersmokingdoors?
Oh God I can’t say… There would be too many to tell!
