Tell me about the story of the band!
Well, the band originated as a studio project with the goal of producing what have become the first Nasty Farmers release. Luca (drummer) and I sat down with in mind the core idea for the album, and then decided to give it a go on the live set and this made natural that Giovanni (guitars) and Alessandro (bass) joined the band. We have been a band eversince and we actively have apported material and ideas to both the live set and the creative process of this new release.

What did you do in the last six months?
Do you mean a part of struggling with the day to day routine and a world crisis that has lead our country in the real shit? Well we have tried to get over everything playing a lot and spending long hours in the studio giving shape to this album we are very proud!

What have you got in your wallet now?
A part of stuff i cannot mention, I have literally €7.30, a lighter and a guitar pick i always carry with me.

Why have you chosen this name for your band?
I worked in the country, I lived and still live surrounded by beautiful country landscapes. We are from Tuscany! But the stories we tell not always match the surroundings, and sometimes you have to betough and nasty to have your message delivered and understood. Nasty Farmers is also referred to the simplicity of our upbringing.

How important is the look/appearance for your band?
Mmm let me see… Nothing!

Tell us about the new LP “The Strawman Fallacy”. are you fully satisfied with it?
Is a bit like getting into a restaurant and ask the owner if the food is good. Of course we are. there is always room for improvement but this is the second work and we are but getting better. We are more mature, we are more focused, we are more experienced. “The Strawman Fallacy” is not only a musical journey but also a discovery one. there is more of us and less of our inspirational idles. There is lots of our background but no citations. whatever comes out from this album is the music we have always listened to, well elaborated, and served on a golden platter to the listeners with always the great hope that they will enjoy it as much as we did.
In “The Strawman Fallacy” there is strength, irony, delicacy, sadness and obscurity. Like everything in life there are layers of ourselves and this is, I hope, reflexted in the music. We are not the saviours of the world but we could start making the neighborhood a little bit better.

Which is the highest point of the LP?
The highest point is complicated to find and identify. I would like to think about strawman as well as bottom dog or faulty reason. There is a lot of “ups and mellows” in the dark of this hot and dusty album.

…And the low point?
Easy to think of the lowest one: low gravity.

How would you define your sound?
Spiritual nasty? Dusty fock? (as rock and folk) No offence for the underaged or the overaged, I would like to define our sound as honest, the rest of the definition is up to who listens. We can sound stoner or grunge, garage or rock’n’roll. but it’s us and it’s from the nasty inner of ourselves that this sound comes from.

Western rock. what do you think, is a good compromise to describe your style?
I guess so, considering that our inspiration are also western movies and atmospheres, deserted landscape, both interior and exterior. As long as, like in western movies, we and you can dust it off anytime.

Which bands have influenced your style?
I can tell you what inspired me as a musician and as a man. The influences in the band are so diverse that you would not believe it. We get a lot from stoner rock, grunge, blues, southern rock, prog, power rock and punk rock, jazz and folk, is that enough?

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Tell my kids that the world is a stunning place to live in and not have to lie to them.

Tell me some of the bands you admire.
Led Zeppelin, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Queens Of The Stone Age, The Mars Volta, Foo Fighters, Motorpsycho, Blind Melon.

What song is in your head right now?
To be honest ? “Strawman”.

And of your local music scene?
There is a big comeback to live music, rock, blues and surrounding genres. Years ago the music scene was really good but it was mainly edm. This new trend has brought out many bands and consequently more live music venues. To mention few of the local bands that we absolutely respect tapes on tapes, venus in furs, piqued jacks, mr bison.

What is the most embarrassing situation you’ve ever been with Nasty Farmers?
We were playing live at a motor enthusiasts gathering. You know, one of those bikers thing. All of a sudden someone from the organisation comes up on stage and says that there are three cars blocking the way in the parking lot, and that they have to be immediately moved away. Of course they were ours, and of course we kept on playing with not much of a worry.
