Talk to me about the story of the band!
Yeah! Motherkissers is an Italian Nu Metal/Metalcore band formed in late 2011 and composed of singer Dan from Stonecutters, guitarist John and bassist Api from Novabrine and drummer Teo from Marshall Point. From that point, we played a lot all around Italy and Europe, recorded our EP “Lost in a paradox” last year, and finally this year released our debut album, “Cage the water”, followed by our second videoclip “Aeons”.

What did you do in the last six months?
We mainly worked on the album with our good friend Davide “Axel” Colombo at Diana Studio, near Milan (Italy). In the meantime Motherkissers hit the stage in Italy and Europe with many awesome bands.

What have you got in your wallet now?
Dan: mmm one dollar, a gift from my friend.
John: some coins, 10 euro and a couple of picks
Api: no euro hahaha!
Teo: a lot of money, coins, ID card.

Why have you chosen this name for your band?
We were so undecided about the name, there were several choices but, one day, Api the Genius puts up the name. Motherkissers is a perfect pithy, point-blank and ironic self-representation.

How important is the look/appearance for your band?
Right these days, we are in the middle of discussing this stuff. Basically we need to find out only the right blending, not a completely look; So many bands base on the outfit but this is not the only way to stand out.

Tell us about the new LP “Cage the water”. Are you fully satisfied with it?
Yeah, after six months of recording studio I think so…
John: I think it’s normal to find out a couple of errors, some steps that not sound as expected and so on, but I’m fully satisfied of the final product, it’s completely a Motherkissers work. Very proud of it.

Which is the highest point of the LP?
As I said before, the final result: it completely merge in the right way our idea of music, lyrics, graphics.

…And the lowest point?
Delivering time: we need to focus on it, too much wasted time.

How would you define your sound?
Stronger and various… Something particular and different.

Alternative music. Describe for me these 2 words!
Mmm… What do you mean with “alternative music”? So many people speak about it but these words result without meaning. Anyway about our music, various and involving.

Name 3 words that describe your band.
Stronger, catchy and powerfull.

Which are the best and the worst qualities of your band?
I don’t know… Worst, lowness into decide everything, I suppose.
Best: different ideas that lead to different music.

And of your local music scene?
Italy has no music scene, especially on rock/metal side… Everyone against everyone. Bands are not interesting to create a scene, everyone think about its countyard. It’s not a good moment.

What is the most embarrassing situation you’ve ever been with Motherkissers?
We’re Italian guys, it’s impossible to embarrass us!

Have you got a good reason to be in Behind Magazine?
Because we’re ready to hit the world with our music. And Behind Mag can helps us out!

Have you got something to add?
Thanks Sheep and Behind Magazine to give us the chance to speak about Motherkissers. See you on the road guys!
