Talk to me about the story of the band!
Sure! We started in 2009 just for fun covering Blink182, Green Day, All Time Low as any band of this scene. Then we tried to make something of different, writing our music and putting a second guitar in the band. So, in 2011 we made the first EP “A few seconds” that gave us the possibility to play in a lot of locations around the rock scene in our region, until the end of 2012. Months later we decided to work on our first album. The entire 2013 was spent between writing new stuff and studying the art of recording, mixing and mastering. After so much work, on July 4th 2014 the first single “Today” finally came out and it gave a good impact on the web , infact we signed with “ This Is Core Records” that summer. On October 10th, the second single “Anywhere” came out as BlankTV Premiere and now here we are finally talking about our first album “Pressures” available on Itunes, Spotify…

What did you do in the last six months?
Mostly we had a lot live shows to present the album, we’ve done two videos (moving to Genova for one of them), some acoustic sets, thousands hangovers and we’ve just started to write new stuff.

What have you got in your wallet now?
Hahah! As always,just dreams.

Why have you chosen this name for your band?
Just to remind that even if you are in the worst situation of your life, never forget to smile.

How important is the look/appearance for your band?
Less than zero is the best way to say “nothing”. I think people doesn’t need tattoos or piercings to be alternative, for me alternative is having a personal, strong and reasonable idea about something.

Tell us about the new LP “Pressures”. Are you fully satisfied with it?
Yes I am. It’s about our lives and from the first sounds or words, until the last one, it expresses what we lived during the “Making of” period. Just seeing his name “Pressures” you can perceive what we’ve lived, what happens around us in this modern strange world. After different months of hard working and production I feel so glad about how the things are going, but we won’t stop. We’re waiting to play in the best clubs opening for the band that we love. We hope to go on tour soon!

Which is the highest point of the LP?
I think this is pretty personal, but for me the the highest comes out with songs like “Today”, “Anywhere” and “Pressures”. Mainly for the meanings and then for the music.

How would you define your sound?
This is difficult. Well despite the drop C and the energy, each song has a smooth melody in itself, so let me say that’s “Alternative”.

Rock. Describe for me this word!
Wow! This is the hardest, man! Well it’s a particular stone from the mountains… That includes a lot of types… Ahah! I’m kiddin’! For me Rock is attitude, how living and not how you dress. Rock’n’Roll is a way of thinking about something, without caring of the other ones opinion. Being yourself always in any situations, this is Rock for me!

Which bands have influenced your style?
Mostly bands from UK as: Young Guns, Deaf Havana, Mallory Know, You Me At Six.
But all of us are grow up with Green Day, Blink 182, All Time Low so there are a lot of genres who influenced us.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
I should say going on tour around the world with the guys! Maybe opening for a band that we love, it sounds great! But today I feel lazy and I say “drinking thousand of beers, good music and watching the perfect girl walking around you while she dresses her best colours.

Tell me some of the bands you admire.
Green Day: best live band, true power despite their age.
Foo Fighters : Dave Grohl is pure energy.
Sincerely, I admire almost every band that I listen.

What song is in your head right now?
Young guns “Dearly departed”.

Name 3 words that describe your band.
Rock, Booze, Personality.

Which are the best and the worst qualities of your band?
Worst: we drink a lot of beers, man.
Best: before being a band, we are good friends.

And of your local music scene?
The place where we live is the worst for our genre of music. Unfortunately I see that Italy is not so opened for this kind of rock, that’s the reason why we write music in a foreign language.

What is the most embarrassing situation you’ve ever been with Dirty Smiles?
Hahaha! Maybe when an indian guy threw 10 euro on the stage while we were playing! Shit! We felt like strippers!

Have you got a good reason to be in Behind Magazine?
Yes, we are insane almost like you guys! Thanks for the interview and good job!
