Tell me about the story of the band!
The band is an “old friends from young years” project! We knew each other for a long time (almost 12 years) and we decided to build a band together only in 2013,when we had time and will to give a shape to our passion. It was like we “needed” to create a band like Deaf Autumn. At the beginning we were both bassists (me and Dave, now guitarist and singer) so we had few “tryouts” with local guitar players, but no one liked our music and fitted what we needed, so Dave started to play guitar! We continued as a trio and things went better and better until nowadays.

What did you do in the last six months?
We were deeply busy, both in recording the album and give it a professional role, taking care about everything.

What have you got in your wallet now?
Oh, no money of course! But a lot of good proposals and things to accomplish.

Why have you chosen this name for your band?
We didn’t think about it too much… It was Autumn season when we started this project and we were about to become deaf because of the amount of high volume in our rehearsal room! After that, we wanted something melancholic in our identity and Autumn is the right season to fit us.

How important is the look/appearance for your band?
Of course, we take care of our look, but only after making everything perfect about our music.

Tell us about the new LP “What Was To Be Known”. Are you fully satisfied with it?
We are so damn fully satisfied with it! From the the recording quality to the production, nothing has let us down. It was a huge experience and we look at it like our little treasure. It is such a great goal for us cause we can now listen to what we always wanted to listen to! Happy and proud.

Which is the highest point of the LP?
I guess the highest point is our third song, ”This Skin”. We are deeply in love with that song and we just blow our minds off when we play it live!

…And the low point?
You say that!

How would you define your sound?
Melancholically powerful, graspy and sometimes introvert.

Screamo. Describe for me this word! And what do you think, is a good compromise to describe your style?
Oh what a question… Well, I don’t really define my self as a screamo singer, cause I think my style is mostly like a gently growling with some high peaks trying to let people understand what I’m saying. Maybe more like Alexisonfire singer, but touching lower notes.

Which bands have influenced your style?
There is no real band that influenced us, and less genres. We came from different music experiences and lifestyles, we just put all of our attitudes in the same pot and “What Was To Be Known” is the melted meal that came out.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Of course there is no real happiness. But in our minds, happiness is sharing our music with everyone in the world and receive love and friendship as answer, no strings attached.

Tell me some of the bands you admire.
We look up to bands like Funeral For A Friend, who never give up reinventing themselves, or Bring Me The Horizon who are not afraid of evolve even if old fans may not understand.

What song is in your head right now?
My personal obsession is “Poem” from Taproot. I sing it once a day at least, since 2005.

And of your local music scene?
Our music scene is quite rich and full of various styles, but there is no true support between them and bands rarely try to do things professionally.

What is the most embarrassing situation you’ve ever been with Deaf Autumn?
Ah, it was at one of our gigs in Rome: show begins, first song, first note… And both of our instruments (guitar and bass) fell down because of belts got broken! You may figure out how it feels to say “oh well… Let’s start again!”.

Have you got a good reason to be in Behind Magazine?
Behind Magazine is much more important to us than everyone can ever imagine. We started as nothing and now we answering your questions! You are like an island in the ocean of music and we are castaways… I guess we are good at swimming!
