The Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series starts today in Cartagena, Colombia.

The location at Cartagena’s Convention Center with its splendid view over the bay of Las Ánimas provides for a proper location to launch into the seventh season. Six months after the coronation of four-time World Series champion Gary Hunt at the grand final in Mexico, 10 of the world’s best cliff divers and four wildcards will be diving from 27 metres-high in their bid for glory during eight competitions between April and September. Who will win the first competition?

It’s pure. It’s fast and takes your breath away. Cliff divers leap aesthetically from almost three times the Olympic height and hit the water at speeds of 85kph, protected only by their concentration, skill and physical control. Since 2009, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series has featured the biggest talents, the most promising newcomers, and since 2013 has also provided a platform for women.

Eight tough competitions for the men, three challenges for the women – in its seventh season between April and September, this pure extreme sport will touch waters in natural and urban surroundings as well as remote and iconic venues across South America, the US and Europe and top it all with the season finale and the 50th World Series competition.
