It’s finally here! Basically it’s only a few hours that separate us from the first mega event of the season on Friday, January 28 th in Leogang – and it’s time for one last update. Riders are getting on planes, stuffing their gear into their cars and flocking to snow-covered Leogang where Grant “Chopper” Fielder is putting the finishing touches to the most technical course the contest in the snow has seen to date.

Over the last few days, the riders’ list has somewhat changed. Powerhouse Andreu Lacondeguy has signed up to compete against riders that now hail from eleven different countries. Big names like Martin Soderstrom from Sweden, last year’s winner Sam Pilgrim, US citizen Jamie Goldman and the Canadian Graham Agassiz join him in the battle for the podium. Unfortunately, the Austrian Niki Leitner is out due to an injury so it’s up to the visitors to represent the hosting country. Here’s the most recent line-up:

Thomas Genon (BE)
Graham Agassiz (CAN)
Jan Toth (CZE)
Tomas Zejda (CZE)
Andreu Lacondeguy (ESP)
Pierre Edouard Ferry (FRA)
Yannick Granieri (FRA)
Antoine Bizet (FRA)
Simon Kirchmann (GER)
Urs Reinosch(GER)
Felix Rosendahl (GER)
Olav Fjaere (NOR)
Szymon Godziek (POL)
Martin Soderstrom (SWE)
Lance McDermott (UK)
Grant Fielder (UK)
Jamie Goldman (USA)
Sam Pilgrim (UK)
Sam Reynolds (UK)

Grant “Chopper” Fielder has once again outdone himself with this year’s course layout. As he himself puts it: “This year, I’ve included more of everything: more jumps, more step-up step-downs, more obstacles and possible lines. The course is a lot more technical this year – I’m pretty sure I’ve created the course for the ultimate White Style!” At the start, the riders step down out of a monster igloo, leading them to a super sized fruit bowl. After that, two gap jumps await – a huge one next to it’s little brother, the latter sporting an extremely steep transition. The riders are free to choose their line, just as with the next gap jumps that also come in the sizes small and giant. Then, a massive step-up step-down follows, leading to the final supersender jump of enormous proportions.

The qualifiers take place on Friday afternoon at 4.30pm, right next to the Shantei ski lift near the Leogang town center. From 6pm the Welle 1 party will deliver beats to warm up to and at 8pm spectators will be treated to the video premiere of “Devils’s Way” on course. From 8.30pm the finals will show who can take home fame and prize money and possibly also who will party the hardest at the legendary after contest party beginning at 10pm at the Kralleralm together with fans and friends.
