The biggest stars in Slopestyle mountain biking will be descending on Austria this weekend as the third stop of the Crankworx World Tour heads to Innsbruck. Will Nicolai Rogatkin (USA) or Brett Rheeder (CAN) be able to continue their quest for the Triple Crown of Slopestyle? No rider has ever claimed the elusive title, or its $25,000 prize purse for winning three of the four Crankworx World Tour slopestyle events in a single season.

Watch live and on demand on Red Bull TV on Sunday, June 25, 2017 as the world’s best mountain bike riders break new ground in Innsbruck, Austria.

With two different winners at the first two stops, there are now two riders that still have a shot at the Triple Crown – if they can win in both Innsbruck and at Red Bull Joyride in Whistler. After winning Crankworx Rotorua, Nicholi Rogatkin’s checkers-or-wreckers style left him off the podium in Les Gets, opening the door for Brett Rheeder to make a triumphant return from injury with a stellar run. With one victory each and only two Crankworx events to go, Innsbruck is a must-win for the pair to keep their hopes for the Triple Crown alive.

Crankworx Innsbruck

Winning in Innsbruck is however far from easy considering the stacked field of riders, exemplified by the fact that the first two stops saw 5 different riders on the podium. Riders like Szymon Godziek (POL), Torquato Testa (ITA), Thomas Genon (BEL) and Nico Scholze (GER) all have what it takes to climb to the top of the podium. And who could forget 18-year-old young-gun Emil Johansson (SWE), the only rider who was on both Crankworx podiums in 2017. His 3rd place in Rotorua and 2nd in Les Gets also see the young Swede leading the Crankworx World Tour standings and FMB Diamond Series.

With an Alpine setting and a legacy in winter sports from ski jumping to rock climbing, snowboarding, and the Winter Olympics (remember skiing’s downhill dominator Franz Klammer?), Innsbruck is hallowed ground for aerial enthusiasts and the gravity obsessed. Passionate crowds are expected at the stunning new bikepark overlooking the fairy-tale town.

Sanctioned by the Freeride Mountain Bike Association, the Crankworx slopestyle events are the pinnacle of style and creativity – judged events packed with features that inspire the absolute greats of the sport and achieve the organization’s top designation as Diamond Series Events, with a total of more than 250,000 spectators in attendance.
